Parameters
| Name | Type | Required | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
legislation_id | string | yes | |
section_number | string | no | null |
provision_id | string | no | null |
as_at | string | no | null |
Notes
- Name the provision with
section_number(for example13K) or aprovision_idfromget_provision_tree. For an APRA, AASB or AUASB standard held by paragraph,section_numbertakes the paragraph as the page cites it, for examplepara 28(d). - A number can name more than one provision: a Schedule restarts its sections, a table numbers its rows. The main-body section is returned and the others are listed in
other_matches. Where none stands out, the answer isAMBIGUOUS_REFERENCEwith the candidates. as_at(YYYY-MM-DD) chooses among the compilations Advisor holds for a title in force today. For a title not in force the answer isTITLE_NOT_IN_FORCE, for any date.- The
linkis the provision's permanent address, for example/l/C2004A03712/compilation_104/main/sec_13k, tied to the compilation the text was read from.
Anchor and fidelity
The anchor block says what Advisor can claim about the text against the authorised PDF:
label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Verified | The provision's own words were found on the authorised PDF, character for character, in the order printed |
| Verified, page only | The provision's own words matched on the authorised page; only their exact position on the page is loose |
| Anchored | Advisor knows where the provision is printed (its heading was found, or its page comes from the provision containing it); its own words were not verified |
| Verified, position uncertain | The words were found, but more than one position on the page fits |
| Not verified | A check ran and could not confirm the text; reason says why |
| Not assessed | No comparison has run for this provision; no claim is made either way |
claim states the claim in words, method says how the check was made, and authorised_pdf_page is the page number printed on the authorised PDF. parts counts how the provision's subsections and paragraphs fared. The endnotes in amendment_history are marked not_law: they record the compilation's history and are not law.

Data currency: Advisor serves the text of titles that the Federal Register of Legislation records as in force. It does not return the text of a repealed, ceased or sunset title, for any date.
- A title or a served provision carries a status block (
status, orin_forcein a list) within_force,frl_statusandconfirmed_with_frl_at: when Advisor last confirmed the status with the Federal Register.- Served text and search hits carry a
compilationblock withregister_id,compilation_no,check_dateandstate.stateis one of four values:
current: the Federal Register's latest list names the compilation the text comes from.not_current: the Federal Register lists a newer compilation. Tell the user, and use thefrl_linkin the response.pending_compilation: amendments have commenced that are not yet compiled, so the text does not include them.not_confirmed: the Federal Register lists no current compilation, or Advisor holds no record of one. Treat it as unknown.TITLE_NOT_IN_FORCEandCOMPILATION_NOT_CURRENTare answers, not failures. Show the user the Federal Register link in the response and do not fill the gap from another source.
Errors
| Code | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
TITLE_NOT_IN_FORCE | The title is not in force; its text is not served for any date | Show the user the frl_link; do not supply the text from elsewhere |
COMPILATION_NOT_CURRENT | A newer compilation is registered and not yet held, and withholding is on | Say a newer compilation exists and give the Federal Register link |
AMBIGUOUS_REFERENCE | The number names more than one provision | Call again with one candidate's provision_id |
NOT_FOUND | No provision matches | Check the number; use get_provision_tree |
PROVISION_NOT_INGESTED | The provision is in the structure but its text is not held | Use the Federal Register link for the text |
VERSION_NOT_HELD | Advisor holds no text in force on the as_at date | Use a date covered by the compilations held, or omit as_at |
