Advisor MCP overview
Advisor MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that gives an AI client tools over Australian Commonwealth law: the titles in force, the text of their provisions, how they cite each other, their amendment history, the Commonwealth Gazette and the parliamentary record. Every answer says whether the law is in force and which compilation the text comes from. It is for developers connecting an MCP client, and for partner platforms that call it with no person present.

Data currency: Advisor serves the text of titles that the Federal Register of Legislation records as in force. It does not return the text of a repealed, ceased or sunset title, for any date.
- A title or a served provision carries a status block (
status, orin_forcein a list) within_force,frl_statusandconfirmed_with_frl_at: when Advisor last confirmed the status with the Federal Register.- Served text and search hits carry a
compilationblock withregister_id,compilation_no,check_dateandstate.stateis one of four values:
current: the Federal Register's latest list names the compilation the text comes from.not_current: the Federal Register lists a newer compilation. Tell the user, and use thefrl_linkin the response.pending_compilation: amendments have commenced that are not yet compiled, so the text does not include them.not_confirmed: the Federal Register lists no current compilation, or Advisor holds no record of one. Treat it as unknown.TITLE_NOT_IN_FORCEandCOMPILATION_NOT_CURRENTare answers, not failures. Show the user the Federal Register link in the response and do not fill the gap from another source.
Access and permissions
Every tool reads; none writes to Advisor or to anything else. A subscriber's paid tools need an active AI Pro subscription. A partner key works only while the AI Pro subscription of the organisation that owns it is active, and only for the scopes its client holds. Each call that returns content is billed once; a call that finds nothing, or is refused, is not.
