Who builds LawAtlas.ai

LawAtlas.ai turns Australian Commonwealth legislation into structured, machine-readable data, and makes it searchable at the level of the individual provision. It is a veteran-owned Australian business based in Canberra.

Stuart McFarland

Stuart designed, built and runs LawAtlas.ai. Before founding it he spent two decades delivering and governing software in regulated environments, first in payments and then across Commonwealth government service delivery. That work covered high-availability infrastructure, anti-fraud machine learning in production, and accountability for systems of national significance.

LawAtlas.ai came out of a problem he kept meeting in that work. The tools available either could not read the statute book, or could not prove what they had read.

The first rule of LawAtlas.ai is, Retrieved, not remembered. Training data is static. Legislation is live. Showing the user the law as at today, not yesterday. Models propose, and a deterministic verifier decides. Every claim the product serves is checked against the authorised legislation before it reaches the reader.
